Commissioned Composer of the Year
Craig Sylvern, faculty member of Keene State College, has been chosen as the NH Commissioned Composer for 2011. His work New England Rhapsodie for Violin and Marimba will be premiered at the 2011 Quad State Conference at Tufts University in Medford, MA, on Saturday, October 1. Congratulations, Craig!
Nationally Certified Members
NHMTA is proud to announce that Rodger Ellsworth, Christine Petrucci and Lynne Wilby recently became Nationally Certified Teachers of Music (NCTM).
Granite State Competition

The 2011 Granite State Competition was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH. All winners and honorable mentions will appear in the NHMTA June newsletter, which will be posted on the website (nhmta.net) later in June 2011.
The 2012 Granite State Competition will be held on Saturday, April 21, at Plymouth State University, Plymouth, NH, with the Winners' Recital to be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Concord Community Music School in Concord, NH.
Fall State Convention

On Saturday, October 1, 2011, NHMTA will join with MA, VT and ME for the biennial Quad State Conference. This event will be held at Tufts University in Medford, MA, with the theme of "Nurturing Creativity in the Studio". Guest speakers will be Karl Paulnack from Boston Conservatory and John McDonald from Tufts University.

In May 2011 NHMTA will hold its non-competitive Evaluations at five different locations: Chocorua, Concord, Nashua, North Hampton and Plymouth.
